Luggage lockers inside a Seoul subway station with two suitcases and a smartphone for luggage storage.

Luggage Storage in Seoul: Subway Lockers, T-Locker & Better Options for Tourists

Finding luggage storage in Seoul sounds simple.

There are lockers in subway stations, so you leave your suitcase, go sightseeing, and come back later. Right?

Mostly — but there is one catch.

Seoul’s main subway locker system, T-Locker (또타라커), is app-based, and Seoul’s own English-language information identifies the app as Korean-only.

If you would rather not deal with a Korean-language app, there are other options, including T-Luggage, Seoul Metro’s staffed storage and delivery service, and private luggage lounges that can be easier for international visitors.

This guide explains what each service actually does, how much it costs, when it is available, and which luggage storage option makes the most sense for your trip to Seoul.

Your luggage storage options in Seoul

There are three main types of luggage storage worth understanding.

1. T-Locker

App-based self-service lockers inside Seoul subway stations.

You choose a locker, pay, store your bag, and retrieve it yourself.

2. T-Luggage

A staffed luggage storage and delivery service available at selected major subway stations.

You can leave your luggage at a service center or use supported delivery services to move it between T-Luggage locations or to Incheon Airport.

3. Private luggage storage

Independent storage lounges and lockers operate around popular areas such as Hongdae, Myeongdong, Jongno and Anguk.

Some can be easier for foreign visitors because they do not require the T-Locker app.

If you’re still deciding which part of Seoul to stay in, see our guide to the best areas to stay in Seoul for first-time visitors, including Hongdae, Myeongdong, Jongno, Seoul Station and Gangnam.

ACTUALLY

“Subway locker” does not always mean “walk up, insert money, and open a door.”

Many of Seoul’s T-Lockers use a mobile-app process, so checking how the locker works before you arrive can save some frustration.

How T-Locker actually works

T-Locker is Seoul Metro’s unmanned subway locker network.

According to Seoul’s current official information, T-Locker has 336 locker locations across 273 stations, with 5,557 individual lockers.

The basic process for newer T-Lockers is:

  1. Open the T-Locker app.
  2. Search for lockers at or near your station.
  3. Check availability.
  4. Select a locker and pay through the app.
  5. Follow the app instructions to open the locker.
  6. Return before the locker service closes.
  7. Pay any additional storage charge if necessary and retrieve your luggage.

Older lockers may work differently, so follow the instructions posted at the actual locker.

Actually: the T-Locker app is Korean-only

This is one of the details many luggage-storage guides leave out.

Seoul Metropolitan Government’s own English-language information identifies the T-Locker app as Korean.

There is English information about T-Locker, but the app itself is not presented as an English-language tourist app.

That does not necessarily mean you cannot use it.

You may be able to work through the app using screen translation or help from someone who reads Korean.

But it does mean T-Locker is not necessarily the most frictionless luggage-storage option for every first-time visitor.

ACTUALLY

The English information page is not an English version of the app.

Seoul provides English instructions for T-Locker, but the T-Locker app itself is currently identified as Korean.

What we could not verify from official information

Two details are not clearly explained on the official pages we checked:

  • whether T-Locker reliably accepts overseas-issued credit or debit cards
  • whether app registration requires a Korean phone number

We would not rely on either assumption without checking the current app first.

If T-Locker is your only storage plan and you do not have a Korean phone number or Korean-issued payment card, test the app setup before arriving at the station with your luggage.

Reality Check: official English information can be inconsistent

Current Seoul information lists T-Locker operating hours as:

05:00–24:00 every day

Storage and retrieval are unavailable outside those hours.

However, there is a useful example of why checking the exact service section matters.

On Seoul’s current English subway-storage page, the T-Locker section says 05:00–24:00 on weekdays, weekends and holidays, while another section on the same page covering the related T-Storage service still refers to Seoul Metro operating hours of 05:00–01:00 on weekdays and 05:00–24:00 on weekends and holidays.

Those are different services, but the conflicting time references can be confusing if you are scanning the page quickly.

For a normal T-Locker, use the hours listed specifically under the T-Locker section: 05:00–24:00.

KOREA REALITY CHECK

Don’t rely on a time mentioned elsewhere on the page.

For T-Locker, the current official T-Locker section specifically lists 05:00–24:00 every day. If you need your bag late at night, plan around that cutoff.

T-Locker prices and sizes

T-Locker pricing depends on locker size and whether you use it on a weekday or weekend/holiday.

Medium 50 × 45 × 60 cm ₩3,300 ₩4,600 ₩800

Before choosing a locker size

Do not rely only on the advertised inch size of your suitcase.

Actual external dimensions vary between luggage brands, especially once wheels, handles and hard-shell edges are included.

If you have a large checked suitcase, compare its actual external dimensions with the locker dimensions before assuming it will fit.

T-Locker vs T-Luggage: don’t confuse them

Comparison chart showing the differences between T-Locker and T-Luggage in Seoul.
T-Locker is a self-service subway locker system, while T-Luggage is a staffed storage and delivery service at selected major stations.

The names sound similar, but they solve different problems.

T-Locker T-Luggage
Type Self-service locker Staffed storage and delivery service
Who handles your bag? You Staff
Availability Hundreds of subway stations Selected major stations
Delivery No Yes, on supported routes
How to use T-Locker app / locker instructions Service center or online reservation

If you only need to leave a standard-size bag for a few hours, T-Locker is usually the cheaper and more widely available option.

If you have a large suitcase, want staff assistance, or want luggage delivered while you continue sightseeing, T-Luggage may make more sense.

Where T-Luggage is available now

This is another area where older English information can be misleading.

For example, Seoul’s original 2023 English announcement described T-Luggage as operating at four main subway locations.

T-Luggage’s current official service-center page now lists eight unique centers in Seoul:

Center Official location description Listed hours
Seoul Station B1, direction from Exit 1 to Exit 2 09:00–22:00
Hongik University B1, between Exits 2 and 3 09:00–22:00
Myeongdong B1, near Exits 1, 9 and 10 09:00–22:00
Gimpo Airport Line 5, B1 International Terminal 09:00–22:00
Jamsil B1, near Exits 3 and 4 09:00–22:00
Jongno 3-ga Line 5, B1, near Exit 6 09:00–22:00
Gangnam Near Exits 9 and 10 09:00–21:00
Suseo Line 3, B1, near Exits 1 and 5 09:00–22:00

KOREA REALITY CHECK

Older English articles may still tell you that T-Luggage has only four locations.

T-Luggage’s own website currently shows inconsistent operating hours for some locations, including Gangnam, across different pages. Because service-center hours can change, check the live center page before your visit rather than relying on an older guide or a single page.

What if your suitcase is too large?

The largest standard T-Locker is listed as 50 × 90 × 60 cm.

That sounds large, but luggage manufacturers do not all measure suitcase size the same way.

A large checked suitcase may fail to fit because of:

  • wheels
  • handles
  • hard-shell edges
  • an expanded suitcase body

So do not assume a “28-inch suitcase” automatically fits just because one dimension looks smaller than the locker measurement.

Compare your bag’s actual external dimensions if possible.

If you are carrying particularly large luggage, T-Luggage’s larger storage categories or a private luggage-storage facility may be safer than depending on a subway locker.

Better options if you don’t want a Korean-only app

T-Locker is not the only way to store a suitcase in Seoul.

Some private self-service storage businesses are designed around walk-in use without requiring the T-Locker app.

One current example is Luggage Lounge Anguk Locker, near Anguk Station.

Visit Seoul’s current listing says it:

  • is approximately three minutes from Anguk Station Exit 4
  • offers S, M, L and XL lockers
  • does not require an app download
  • operates from 05:00 to 24:00 every day

See the current Visit Seoul listing for Luggage Lounge Anguk Locker

This is not a recommendation to use one particular company.

The useful point is that app-free luggage storage exists, so you do not have to force yourself through T-Locker if the Korean-language app becomes a problem.

Private businesses can change their prices, hours or services, so always check the latest information before relying on one.

Common luggage storage mistakes in Seoul

Assuming every subway locker works like a coin locker

Many T-Lockers use an app-based process. Check how the locker works before showing up with your bags.

Confusing T-Locker with T-Luggage

T-Locker is self-service storage. T-Luggage is a staffed storage and delivery service.

Planning to retrieve your bag after midnight

Current official T-Locker information lists access until 24:00.

Assuming your large suitcase will fit

Check actual external dimensions rather than relying only on a suitcase’s advertised inch size.

Assuming the app will accept your payment setup

Official information does not clearly answer every question about overseas-issued cards or Korean phone-number requirements.

Test the app before making T-Locker your only storage plan.

Using an old list of T-Luggage locations

T-Luggage has expanded over time. Its current official service-center page lists considerably more locations than Seoul’s original 2023 announcement.

Which luggage storage option should you choose?

Decision guide showing how to choose the best luggage storage option in Seoul based on bag size and travel needs.
The best luggage storage option in Seoul depends on your bag size, whether you need delivery, and whether you are comfortable using a Korean-language app.

A few hours + standard-size luggage + comfortable using a Korean app
→ Try T-Locker.

Large suitcase or you prefer staff assistance
→ Check T-Luggage.

Want your luggage moved while you sightsee
→ Check whether T-Luggage delivery supports your route.

Don’t want to use a Korean-only app
→ Look for an app-free private luggage-storage facility near your destination.

Need to collect your bag very late at night
→ Do not assume a subway locker is accessible after midnight. Check the exact facility first.
